Homemade cardamom hazelnut butter (vegan & paleo)

So, this is pretty much all things warm & cozy bottled up nice & neat in a jar, just for you. Combining the spices of winter + the sweet & buttery hazelnut, which sometimes goes by the name of filbert, it’s perfect to add to your snacks or for breakfast. I think I may just start referring them to filberts. Such a cool name.

If I were a nut I think I’d be a hazelnut. Or at least I’d like to think so. Perfect texture & rich flavor that stands out in sweet & savory dishes alike. Homemade cardamom hazelnut butter

  • Servings: 12oz.
  • Time: 10mins

1 lb. roasted hazelnuts
1 tsp. maple syrup or 1 soft pitted date
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. cardamom
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
pinch of salt

Place hazelnuts in high-speed blender or food processor. Blend on high until mixture starts to become a thick butter. (About 1-2 minutes in a blender such as a Vitamix). If you are using a food processor you will need to stop several times to scrape down the sides and the time will vary. Add in the spices and blend on high for another 3-4 minutes, until creamy. Store in a glass jar for up to 2 weeks.
