Though bananas are an obvious & delicious choice to add to a smoothie bowl, some days you just don’t want that nana all up in yo’ business and honestly, I’ve had a lot of people tell me that they can’t stand the taste of banana in anything, even the banana itself. Okay, I get it, I actually don’t like eating them as nature intended, peel down and etc. Weird texture thing. Plus, once you’ve had them in a country where they are actually grown, you will never want to eat them here again. But I digress.
So for you non-banana lovers or if you live with a non-banan lover (sorry) or for when you are just not in the nanner mood, here is a list of awesome non-banana based smoothies + one of my go-to breakfast smoothie bowl recipes.
Avocado hemp vanilla smoothie
1/2 ripe avocado flesh (about 100 grams)
1 scoop vanilla protein powder (I prefer Sunwarrior Blend or Amazing Grass)
2 c. spinach
1 c. hemp milk (or other non-dairy milk)
2 tbsp. hemp seeds
1 tbsp. ground flax seeds
3-4 ice cubes
Optional toppings: 1 tsp. hemp seeds, 1 tsp. unsweetened coconut, 1 tbsp. pumpkin seeds, handful of berries.
Place ingredients in blender and blend until smooth. Pour into bowl and top off!
