Ever wonder what the hype is about smoothie bowls? The smoothie’s sexier, more photogenic cousin is a hit on social media. It’s basically like eating ice cream, but filled (and topped) with healthy foods, such as fruits, nuts, seeds, and veggies. Plus, instead of sucking down my smoothie in 5 seconds or less, the smoothie bowl requires some slowing down. I tend to feel more satisfied afterwards feeling like I ate a meal instead of drinking one.
I am one to pack as many veggies as possible into my smoothie bowls, but I definitely don’t want to taste them. As a previous juice hater (I was of the you should eat your veggie variety!) I did not want to be able to taste anything of the sort of a veggie. I have created 100s of these bowls for friends and family and everyone is always surprised by the sneaking in of zucchini, spinach, cauliflower, & sweet potato into their smoothies. Why not get into the habit of eating as many veggies as possible in the morning? They are packed with fiber, vitamins, and minerals that loads of us aren’t getting enough of each day. Less than 5% of Americans get the adequate 25-38g of fiber each day.
What’s important about fiber? It will keep you regular, maintain bowel health, control blood sugar levels, keep you feeling satiated longer, and possibly lower cholesterol. (You can read more about that here).
These bowls are great especially if you’re not a veggie fan or live with very picky eaters. I am also letting my husband know what was in it after he eats and raves about it. The white beans and cauliflower really threw him off!

Aside: I am not a huge banana smoothie fan so mine are usually banana free unless I’m low on other ingredients.
Here is a sneak peek at one of the most popular bowls in my house.
