About

Welcome to Craving Nature, your inspiration for health, wellness, fitness, & travel. In this corner of the blogiverse you’ll find whole food recipes using local and seasonal ingredients to keep your belly and palate satisfied, while giving you energy for all of your life adventures, whether physical or mental. Eating whole foods and making healthy recipes that taste delicious should be fun and rewarding. Nature gives us the most beautiful art and it’s up to use it as our medium to create our life’s art. I believe in quality ingredients and making conscious decisions to buy the most sustainable and local ingredients available. The stories and relationships that develop and connect us to our food give me a greater appreciation of what I am eating and how it came to be on my plate.

I’m Emma, the food & farmers’ market obsessed brains behind the recipes, photographs, health & wellness tips, travel stories, and bad puns that constitute Craving Nature. Like most of us, I grew up loving food and eating lots of it. I never paid any mind to how my diet was affecting my mood and my body. In my mid 20’s I was lacking confidence and majorly lacking activity and changed my habits and started leading a life of eating whole foods, regular exercise, and loads of cooking. Ten years later and still 30 lbs. lighter, I ‘m still at it and have found loads of energy, self-confidence, and friends through a mostly plant-based diet, triathlons, aerial arts, hiking, snowboarding, yoga, and CrossFit.

You can always find me staying active, perusing the markets in my town of Santa Monica, CA, cooking, baking, writing, or photographing my creations in my kitchen. I am constantly experimenting (so that you don’t have to). I have been an educator my entire adult life and find it only natural that I have moved on from a full-time Spanish teaching job to food education to share with others my passion about eating wholesome and nourishing foods. I hope to inspire you to try something new, continue to eat well, or to get up and get active.

Happy Inspired Cooking!
